In personal brands, even the celebrity “mean girl” space is cluttered, as it is in every high school, proving that art imitates life. Heidi, Lindsay, whomever Lindsay breaks up with and Perez Hilton are among about 25 top contestants for icon of that brand personality. By contrast, Natalie Portman holds steady with her promise as educated, beautiful and the least celebrated of all celebrity personal brand promises: civilized….
Celebrity branding for mindshare looks a bit like the cola wars this year. Ever so often the blue challenger competes against the real thing and makes some noise before fading back.

How to Greet Defeat and Come Back Richer
Publisher Nance Rosen’s weekly Syndicated Column on PersonalBrandingBlog.com: How to Greet Defeat and Come Back Richer
It is easier to make your way out of a war zone, when you’re proud of your uniform and the flag you salute. It really helps to know who you are, what you represent and see yourself as an agent of your brand no matter where you are or who’s yelling at you.
We know that bad happens. If you are going to succeed in your business or career, you are going to fail. You are going to try new concepts, sign on to employers, get yourself into partnerships, hire staff and kill yourself to please clients who will leave you and might seem bent on destroying you. To succeed, you need resilience in business more than you need any other single quality or skill.

Controversial Communication: Incite a Riot or Facilitate Debate?
Publisher Nance Rosen’s weekly Syndicated Column on PersonalBrandingBlog.com: Controversial Communication: Incite a Riot or Facilitate Debate?

For me, the blessing is I’m very lucky to have been born after Guttenberg made the press (not Police Academy 3), Vint Cerf invented the Internet (not Horton Hears a Who), and Steve Jobs (as opposed to Steve Just Thinks) put it all first on our desks and now in our palms.
The curse is I can’t watch the news on television because it’s not news by the time I see it. If I’m not growing I feel like I’m dying. That’s why being a lifelong learner isn’t something that’s nice for me, it’s essential – like air, water and food.

Are You Absent, Invisible, a Reflection or an Impression?
Publisher Nance Rosen’s weekly Syndicated Column on PersonalBrandingBlog.com: Are You Absent, Invisible, a Reflection or an Impression?
You may be among us and we might not know. If you’re not blogging or at least leaving comments on blogs, not tweeting or at least re-tweeting, or haven’t posted or at least contributed to a thread on a social network: you may be present but virtually invisible to us.
By selectively interacting, you shape how we know you and insure that we consider you. By your posted reflections about others’ ideas, you give us some way to see if you are the right person to hire, promote, or otherwise include in our companies or projects…
